The new Linkin Park shows up
Like any good active group for over a decade, members of the American rock band Linkin Park were asked about the future of the group and the new sound they wanted to borrow.
After two years in the studio, they launched last September A Thousand Suns, they will present on Feb. 7 at the Bell Centre.
In anticipation of this new North American tour, one of two singers in the group, Mike Shinoda, met during the first hour with a handful of American and Canadian media. His colleague, Chester Bennington joined him for the second time this long and generous interview they have granted.
Show no such
Being a concept album dealing with themes of nuclear attack and war in general, A Thousand Suns will be reflected visually in the new tour. “Many of the themes that are found on the album will play a central role in the show,” said Mike Shinoda. Our creative team works with new technology specific to this concert. Because we do not play the same every night. We like to vary and improvise songs. And the visual must follow what we do. There will not be a show like this during the tour. ”
The group thought to present A Thousand Suns complete manner on stage, but he rejected the idea for the first portion of the tour. “We are open to the idea of special concerts, but for now, the spectators who come to the show we will play songs from our complete catalog.”
Mike Shinoda does not know why these dark themes were all found on the album. “It just happened like that that we began to leave these subjects. We adopted a new writing process more fluid, a technique of automatic writing. It allowed me to get out ideas that I did not even know I had in mind. We talk about destruction, annihilation, fear. Humanity is in the process of destroying itself. And we’re all scared to different degrees. ”
50 million albums sold
With four albums released on the market since 2000 and have sold over 50 million copies around the world, members of Linkin Park have only one objective: to remain refreshing. “When a group member brings a demo song and it sounds too familiar, is dropped. We try to make music exciting and refreshing, the music we like to listen. ”
With two singers in one group, how is the relationship between Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington? “There is no leader in the group, answered Mike. In fact, Chester and I put at the forefront only on stage and on the promotional photos. Otherwise, everyone has a say in the group. Therefore, I think we’re still here today. “
