Green Day and Punk Revolution
When talking about Punk Rock , many assume they are fast songs with only three musical chords and the truth is that in many cases it is. This has led some to disparage the genre, citing the simplicity of the compositions when in reality this is not true.
In 1974 , the group comes Ramones in New York City, who are considered the pioneers of Punk Rock. And if many say was a gang of three chords , surely they were, but would have to see what chords! The same could be said of Sex Pistols with Johnny Rotten to the head.
Twenty years later, the band Green Day was the first music to fashion punk on the West Coast of the United States. His album “Dookie” sold no less than 14 million copies worldwide, despite having been overlooked group in its infancy. And while Green Day also has issues three chords and three minutes , that does not diminish at all the victories and awards achieved.
